Bloomsburg Runners Finish Strong at Armory Meet

BLOOMSBURG- Several Bloomsburg University track runners had strong finishes at the Armory Meet held Friday in New York City.
Amber Hackenburg (Middleburg/Middleburg) led all Huskies runners finishing 5th out of 23 runners in the 5k race. Hackenburg was the highest finisher amongst Division II athletes who competed in the race with a time of 18:15.67. The mark puts Hackenburg second on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifier list. Teammate Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) finished eighth in the same race in a time of 18:24.28 and was the second highest finisher among Division II athletes. Schwing's time puts her fourth on the PSAC qualifier list.
Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp. /Seneca Valley) finished 11th in his 5K race in 15:07.69, which was also good enough for eighth on the PSAC qualifier list. Shepherd was the highest finisher amongst Division II athletes in the race.
Other strong finishers for Bloomsburg were Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) and Jimmy Stockley (Elverson/Twin Valley). Shuck finished in a PSAC qualifying time of 19:12.49, while Stockley finished the race in 16:22.16.
